Due to my ongoing bulk license negotiation with HERO Coalition, I have relocated to Gamis to be closer to my prospective client. While here, I thought it prudent to bring the light of James 315 to the local ruffians.
Hitherto I have been limited to bumping as I lacked any offensive skills, though I have recently trained into a basic Justice Catalyst. Here is my fleet, missing brave "Compliance" - whose story I will tell you now.
Hardened criminal chris22 was mining in an untanked Retriever in Gamis, as is the wont of the bot-aspirant. Though "Compliance" could only manage 382 dps on paper, I thought it worth a try with Concord otherwise engaged and Gamis being 0.5 sec. At the very least, it would send a strong message to the locals. Sadly, I was just short of the required dps.
It took chris22 close to 8 minutes to notice that he had no armour and only half his structure remaining.
When I returned to the ice belt in my Invincible SFI, chris22 was waiting there in a SFI of his own. Could there be a mighty showdown? I shot him with fireworks to see.
Unfortunately the nine years chris22 had been no doubt ice mining did not teach him much about emergent gameplay, and he panicked upon seeing the brightly coloured bursts from my Festival Launcher. With an excitable squeak, he dropped safety, scrammed me and opened fire.
Of course, in all the glorious chaos of combat, he forgot to activate his kill right first. (waiting for killmail to sync)
Local fired up both in support of the Order and in support of the terrorist criminal. Guess which side resorted to vulgarity to make their "point"?
I retired to the station to pick through chris22's loot and reflect on today's great victory for Highsec.
That is the tale of my Knighthood. I feel liberated, exhilarated, and humble in the service of the New Order all at the same time.
Well done, Agent Pond! Agent Clara? Hmm. I like Agent Pond better. I wish my own skills were ready to accomplish such a feat (though I realize in large part this was accomplished by the miner himself...could this have been a subconscious attempt to escape his own bot-aspirancy?), but I've a ways to go yet. 200DPS is all I can do, so my efforts are really quite laughable...still, my time will come. And I hope when it does I can help you drive the bot-aspirants from Hi-sec!
Thank you Agent Lanaya. I too was unsure of my ability to wear the mantle of a Knight, but as always the answer was in the Code. For what does the bot lack? Friends. What do Agents have in boundless supply? Friends.
Brave "Consequence" died so that this bot-aspirant should live.
Another fine victory for the Code! I see the miner failed to install even one tank module...a sign of bot-aspirancy if there ever was one. Hopefully Consequence's sacrifice will inspire this bot-aspirant to rise up and denounce her old ways.
I like your style, both in and out of game. Please keep up the good work - and the Field Reports.
We all had to go through that thing of increasing Catalyst DPS. I'm a very patient person though, so saw it right through to the 728 DPS. Not necessary, but very satisfying for me personally.
I'm just amazed at how many untanked boats are still out there; often piloted by characters with many months - or even years - under their belt. I think it is just greed rather than ignorance, and a 'chance it' attitude. In my experience, few actually think that Highsec is (supposed to be) safe. They just think that somehow they'll get away with it.
But I've only just started Clara, and even though I've absorbed most of the available stuff about ganking, actually putting it together and completing a successful gank still requires concentration.
My Security Status has plummeted to -4.9 very quickly, helped along by the snagging of a couple of pods.
Thank you all for your comments. Regarding the security status, are the tags4sec a viable option, or are they too expensive? I've not looked into them yet, though my own status has likewise started dropping and this will be an issue soon.
*edit* looks like about 186M in tags to go from -5 to -2. Not cheap, but not out of reach for someone with an income source in Eve other than bumping.
Also if you sec status starts annoying you, go live in null and do PVE for a short while, or (before getting under -5) blitz L4 missions in 0.5 highsec. You'll get your sec up in a short time.
On the advice of our Leader, I dedicated this alt to the art of the Highsec Suicide-Gank.
He is therefore headed for -10.0 and a life of pursuit and of being pursued. It will add new challenges to the game and take me rather quickly out of any comfort zone I might hitherto have enjoyed!
- But your advice is welcome, as always.
Obviously, I can still relax using my mains (I've a second account) if things get too hot. Interestingly, I've started to receive threats from regulars in my current stomping grounds, that they'll camp me into stations and otherwise harass me (my word, harass). But they're all too greedy to interrupt their Isk-making mischief for long.
It's increasingly obvious how deeply in need the locals are of our own brand of robust love. Mr Mayaki convoed me to learn more.
Clara Pond > hi!
Concordia Mayaki > hello why the hell do you lable me as bot?
Clara Pond > afk mining sir
Concordia Mayaki > not afk at all where is your claim
Clara Pond > one moment please
(At this point I was busy issuing Ms Valaina with her moving violation. It was indeed moving for all concerned.)
Concordia Mayaki > ive run into that bull shit before thats why I moved here to get away from you cowards that say onething and do another I have no problem with you hitting bots but you gank people that actually play the game. You still have not told me what supports
Concordia Mayaki > your claim that I was a bot or AFK
Clara Pond > Please refrain from using profanity
Concordia Mayaki > Thought you floks were all about the tears sorry to offend So you going to explain your claim or not
Clara Pond > I thought I said? The Code explains everything
Somebody needs a deep breath.
Concordia Mayaki > I have the best tank my skills will allow you enjoy hacking up new players
Clara Pond > now, how about that license?
Clara Pond > I think you misinterpret our actions sir. We enjoy seeing new players play Eve, not develop bad habits of bot-aspirancy mining afk and watching their wallet tick slowly upwards
Clara Pond > that is not playing Eve
Clara Pond > CCP statistics prove that people who get trapped in a cycle of mindless repetitive pve leave the game
Concordia Mayaki > What license? I pay my plex like eveyone else so I do not have to pay anyone but CCP to play
Clara Pond > and those who are exposed to emergent player-driven gameplay tend to stay
Clara Pond > you are required by the Code to maintain a valid permit if you wish to mine in James 315's space
Really, we should just post this on a website somewhere for people to read. It would save on typing.
Concordia Mayaki > Even the police give warnings for compliance they dont shoot first with out asking the situation I might have considered your offers but since you have chosen to just blindly attack it says to me you or your group is more interested in griefing than act
Concordia Mayaki > actual game improvment I think Ill pass until you show you are a group worth supporting
Clara Pond > I look forward to that sir. Please contact me at any time for licensing.
I feel confident that we shall make either a compliant miner or an interesting player out of Mr Mayaki yet.
As so often we see, the only negative comment in the entire thread is from an anonymous douchenozzle who resorts to impotent abuse because he/she has nothing of any value or credibility to add. A tale told by an idiot - full of sound and fury, and signifying nothing.
If you wish to critique my methods, beliefs or abilities, please do so - I welcome it. If you wish to vent your tiny fearful spleen, understand that you will be soundly ridiculed and deservedly so.
Back to the good honest work of spreading the Code in Gamis. Agent Scylla and I have achieved some measure of success in the system, which had reverted to barbarism and bot-aspirancy since the highly successful Agent Krominal's eyes drifted elsewhere. The locals are learning again what it is to have Knights in residence.
Only the daring desperadoes Event DarkHorizon and Liam Dark-Horizon were game enough to bring anti-tanked barges to the ice belt today, and they, with a glimmer of hope for their salvation, were right on the ball noticing CONCORD vacating the belt. We continued the search, finally locating serial offender Josy White's plated Retriever burrowing away at Kernite.
Her armour plates may as well have been paper - in fact a paper license would have served her better as a tank. And in the bargain, also served as tank for her pod.
Thinking they were safe, the Dark Horizon twins resumed their ice-botting. It was only a misclick that saved them fifteen minutes later, with one escaping in 20% structure. They were not seen in the ice belt again afterwards, so one may speculate they are instructing their bankers to wire the appropriate licensing fees to the New Order at this very moment.
Ah, a misclick in the heat of battle, a sword dropped, a pistol holstered, rendered mute.
Once, I was atop an untanked Retriever, good to go. Locked, fired, scrammed - a Drone! Bloody Overview!
Caught a bloody nose from Concord or FacPo. Can't recall who got there, I had spent so long trying to disengage from that wretched Hobgoblin.
Thing was, I convinced myself that I'd locked the barge. I now double- or triple-check everything.
Want another one? I forgot to tell my Warpin Manager to stop approaching the target. He careered into it, sending it spinning away, and decloaking the Scout into the bargain. Ruined, but I just couldn't help laughing!
Both Sukanya and Burt were found mining AFK with illegal mining equipment. Sukanya didn't seem interested in communicating in any meaning way; instead, she resorted to the tear-driven profanity and bounty tipping that we so often see. Little Burt, on the other hand, was openly confused in local:
little burt > i have been away for a little bit who is this code ppl
Kenji Chimasu > apply*
Scylla ofMessia > Questions? Please visit www.minerbumping.com
Kenji Chimasu > gankers who are opsessed by james 315 and are the most hated in the eve highsec
Enter Kenji, rebel champion:
Here Kenji attempts to quickly introduce Little Burt with the Supreme Protector of Highsec, the New Halaima Code of Conduct, and the New Order. Then, as I'm sure you can predict, the tears begin to flow.
Scylla ofMessia > Okay, if you weren't AFK, why did you let me approach and kill you from 20km away with no warp disrupter?
Kenji Chimasu > and besides an AFK miner can be very productive
burtus antonioprimus > very
Scylla ofMessia > Shaq is holding a panda. Your argument is invalid.
As ever, I strive for crystal clear communication.
Scylla ofMessia > There are two solutions: 1.) Buy a permit and obey the Code. 2.) Stop mining.
Jiv Tian > lol
little burt > listen child there are 4 solutions
little burt > one pay you nothing
little burt > two pay you nothing
Kenji Chimasu > or 3.) fly in a procure/skiff or 4.) go to higher sec or 5.) kill all off you dry up your supplies
Now, I know what you're thinking, and you're right. Counting is hard. In sum: More corrective action is needed in Gamis.
